Whether your goal is to lose weight, gain muscle, tone, rehabilitate or simply to keep fit Foundry Fitness has you covered, with everything from personal trainers and nutritionists to exercise physiologists we are more than equipped to help you reach your goals. Our staff have a range of qualification and credentials, let’s break some them down for you!

What is a personal trainer?

Personal trainers are individuals with varying degrees of knowledge and education regarding personal fitness, exercise, diet and nutrition. Their goal is to formulate and construct tailored exercise schedules or planned for individuals, based on their personal needs and goals. They then help to motivate, guide, educate people through their workouts, offering feedback for improvement and encouragement when needed. Throughout workouts, PT’s will help to set goals for their clients, based on their ability and needs at the time. They also help delve deeper into their client’s lives, aiming to understand what their strengths and obstacles are, as well as finding out what motivates them to work harder and push themselves.

What is a nutritionist?

Nutritionist are individuals who are trained and educated in all matters relating to food and consumption. They aim to advise people on all issues involving food intake, and overall diet; addressing any issues that may be impacting an individual’s overall health and wellness. More so, a lot of nutritionists specialise or have added credential where they are educated on specific areas such as sports nutrition, dietetics etc.

What is an exercise physiologist?

Physiologist are individuals who have studied the ins and outs of the bodies functions and mechanics. The profession has strong ties with human biology, thus allowing physiologist to understand and explain aspects relating to chemical function, organ systems, and mechanics to their clients. Physiologist are allied health professionals who endeavour to help treat clients with ongoing medical conditions through exercise. They differ from a personal trainer; as they have a learnt plethora of knowledge relating to both mental and physical health, nutrition and the musculoskeletal system. More so, physiologist specialises in treating conditions relating to illnesses such as cancer, arthritis, osteoporosis, depression and cardiovascular disease to name a few. They use knowledge on the body’s functions together with exercise knowledge to help treat clients and formulate exercise goals.
